Jane is an Anatomical Pathologist in Canberra, ACT, Australia. Jane is the Congress Co-President and Co-Chair of Scientific Organising Committee for the IAP Congress 2022. Jane is also immediate past chair of the Education Committee for the IAP Central and immediate past President for the Australasian Division of the IAP. Her focus in these roles has been development of outreach education programs to underserved areas of the world. Jane is also Chair and Professor of Pathology at the Australian National University where she enjoys teaching and is an active researcher.

Professor Richard Scolyer AO

Professor Richard Scolyer AO (BMedSci, MBBS, MD, FRCPA, FRCPath, FAHMS) is the Co-Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia; Senior Staff Specialist in Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, NSW Health Pathology; and Conjoint Professor for the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney. Richard provides a clinical consultation service for the diagnosis of difficult pigmented lesions and receives more than 2000 cases for opinion from Australasia and beyond annually. He effectively integrates his clinical practice with co-leading an award-winning translational melanoma research laboratory. Richard’s record includes co-authoring more than 800 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters with >60,095 citations and an H-index of 118 (via Google Scholar). Richard has presented on more than 400 occasions at conferences throughout the world. He is Vice Chair of the American Joint Committee on Cancer Melanoma Expert Panel and was an Editor of the WHO Classification of Skin Tumours and a member of the Editorial Board for the 5th Edition. Richard was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2021 and has received many prestigious awards, including multiple NSW Premiers Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Distinguished Fellow Award in 2020.

 Clinical Associate Professor Fiona Maclean obtained her medical degree at University of Sydney with First Class Honours. Fiona holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University. She has authored two chapters in the current edition of Sternberg's Diagnostic Surgical Pathology, and one chapter in the current edition of Histology for Pathologists, as well as authoring numerous papers and presenting at many academic and clinical meetings. She is passionate about teaching pathology and enjoys presenting lectures to people from all walks of life. She is President of the Australasian Division of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP). Assoc. Prof. Maclean has special interests in urogenital, musculoskeletal pathology and artificial intelligence in particular. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Professor Anthony Gill AM (MBBS MD FRCPA) is Professor of Surgical Pathology at the University of Sydney, a senior staff specialist in anatomical pathology at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and chairman of the Australian Pancreatic Genome Initiative (APGI). His scope of clinical practice includes both anatomical (surgical and cytological) pathology and targeted molecular testing of tumours, with an emphasis on biomarker development and companion diagnostic testing for targeted therapies.

In addition to his clinical practice, he has a proven track record of translating advances in the knowledge of cancer gained at the basic science level into validated and clinically useful tests which are now employed in diagnostic pathology laboratories around the world. He has co-authored over 500 highly cited original research publications in addition to numerous invited review articles and book chapters. He is a standing editorial board member of the WHO/IARC classification of tumours which is considered the peak international body in surgical pathology and sets diagnostic criteria for tumours applied around the world.

Professor Wendy Cooper is a senior staff specialist in Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Anatomical Clinical Stream Lead for NSW Health Pathology, a Clinical Professor at the University of Sydney and a Conjoint Professor at the University of Western Sydney. She graduated from Medicine at the University of Sydney with First Class Honours in 1998. She also received a Bachelor of Science (Med) with First Class Honours in 1996. She obtained her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Pathologists in 2004 and in 2008 completed a PhD from the University of Sydney titled “Molecular markers of prognosis in early stage non-small cell lung cancer” for which she received the prestigious Peter Bancroft Prize.

She has extensive experience in diagnostic and molecular pathology with special interest in pulmonary pathology and molecular biomarkers. Wendy is the Chair of RCPA Cancer Services Advisory Committee, Chair of the Pathology Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, Thoracic series champion for the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting and a member of the Expert Panel for the international CAP/IASLC/AMP Lung Cancer Biomarker Guidelines. She has over 120 publications and was an editor and author of the new 5th edition of the WHO classification of Thoracic Tumours.

Professor Gelareh Farshid

Professor Gelareh Farshid is an international expert in breast and soft tissue pathology with substantial experience in population based screening for breast cancer. She is a Senior Consultant Pathologist SA Pathology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and a Clinical Professor at the Schools of Medicine and Medical Sciences, University of Adelaide. She was honored by admission into the International Skeletal Society. Gelareh is an executive on the boards of several professional bodies and is a member of the PathWest Board of Directors.

Among other roles, Gelareh is a member of the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting for resected lymph nodes in breast cancer and chairs the RCPA’s multidisciplinary expert groups working on the Structured Reporting of Breast Cancer and Australia’s HER2 testing program. Gelareh contributes to BreastScreen Australia’s Quality Management and Clinical Advisory committees, which are charged with accreditation of Australian BreastScreen services and national policy initiatives for the Program. 

Gelareh appreciates combining full time clinical responsibilities with applied clinical research. In particular, she enjoys engaging with colleagues from various disciplines in innovative projects, aiming to improve healthcare.
